FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK
It was encouraging to see so many business owners at the meeting of the Chamber of Commerce held at Sip-A-While on Monday 14th October.
Many thanks to Ellie and Nikita for hosting us.
The interaction and participation of those in attendance was very welcome. This gives me the belief that the Chamber of Commerce can move onto bigger and better things in the future.
The new committee was elected on the evening and comprises Patsy Green, Bruce Schwartz,
Phil Kennedy, George Bradford, Ben Garnock and Andrew Gawne.
Together with the Executive, Murray Slender, Peter Lynch and Mia Harper, I am looking forward to a very successful year ahead.
One of the items discussed, was investigating a possible grant from Bellingen Shire Council for decorating the CBD with colourful and welcoming Christmas lights. We are very hopeful of being successful with our application, as this will add to the feeling of the festive season in Dorrigo.
It has just been confirmed by Council that eight banner poles will be placed on the Waterfall Way, four at each entrance to Dorrigo. This work is due to be completed in the very near future.
Stage 1 of the walkway from Dorrigo to Dangar Falls is due to commence in the New Year. This will be a
tremendous asset to both our community, and the growth of visitors to our town.
I have been informed that works are due to commence at the end of April 2020 on the proposed Cudgery Street roundabout and roadworks, I am sure this is welcomed by everyone.
We invite and encourage the business houses and Farming businesses to become members of the Dorrigo Chamber of Commerce, and therefore be in a position to contribute to the community’s wellbeing, driving Dorrigo forward.
The next meeting will be a Breakfast meeting at 7.30am at the Lookout Mountain Retreat on Monday 18th November.
Dorrigo Chamber of Commerce.
