Hi, my name is Jenevieve Baff, and this year I am organising the first ever Dorrigo Youth Art Exhibition. It is to be held in conjunction with the Creative Mountain Arts Exhibition (the Easter Arts Exhibition) from Thursday 24th of March until the 2nd of April with the opening night and prize giving on Wednesday the 23rd of March.
The space is open to anyone aged between 12 and 21 years old, living within the Bellingen Shire (Dorrigo, Bellingen, Mylestom, Urunga). The exhibition has an optional theme of ‘Reflections’ which you can interpret in whichever way you choose – physical, emotional etc.
We are eager to exhibit all forms of artwork as long as they fit through our doors. This means 2 metres squared for any 2D works (works on paper, canvas, photography, textile works etc.) and 1.5 cubic metres for any 3D works (sculpture, woodwork, etc.). All 3D works over 10kg will also have to be set up by the artist (or by someone doing so on their behalf).
You can enter this exhibition up to 10 times, with an entry fee of $10 for each item. The money raised will be donated to Beyond Blue, an amazing organisation which works to better the lives of those living with anxious and or depressive disorders. There will be no commission placed on any works sold. Entry forms are available to download here (click here), in Food Angel Café Dorrigo, The Dorrigo Library, Dorrigo and Bellingen Youth Hubs and various other Cafes and shops around the area.
For the purposes of prize giving, the exhibition will be split into three categories – 12 to 15 years, 16 to 18 years and 19 to 21 years. Each category has a prize of $150 as well as a people’s choice award of $50 which may be awarded to any entry.
Tell your friends, tell your family, I’m super excited about all of this and especially to meet you all and see your works!
