Sally-Ann Huson, Cards & Papercraft Specialist
Handmade by Sally-Ann - Continuing a fine tradition
The custom of sending greetings cards can be traced back to the ancient Chinese, who exchanged messages of goodwill to celebrate their new year. Then the early Egyptians used papyrus rolls to send their greetings.
By the 15th century, handmade paper greetings cards were exchanged in Europe. The Germans are known to have printed cards using woodcuts as early as 1400 and handmade paper Valentines were exchanged also in Europe, the oldest thought to have been made in 1415 is kept in the British Museum in London.
It was my permanent move to Australia from the UK in 2004 that began my own card making interest. The ability to encourage manual dexterity in my arthritic mother and a methodology that supported our regular communication was really what triggered it all.
Today my passion for "Papercrafting" enables me to engage the creative process and often to tell stories and create memories through the card making process. The perfect words, the right sentiments, the ability to say exactly what is needed at the right time is just a perfect way of making a difference in people's lives.
Greetings Cards for all reasons:
Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries, Graduation, Examination success, Thank You's, Let's have Coffee, Call Me, Get Better Soon, Valentine's, Easter, Christmas, New Years, In Sympathy, Apologies - any sentiment you care to mention!

In Business Since 2012
How it began ...
The first Made in Dorrigo day held in December 2011 was the main outlet for selling my cards and for building an interest in my business which I operate from home.
I had such wonderful encouragement and support from those who bought my cards that it led to the creation and development of my Blog (I have provided a link to this elsewhere on this page). This is where I catalogue my creations as well as show the commissions people had asked me to create for the people in their lives.
I have also recently started creating unique photo albums - an extension of my initial interest in scrapbooking. I've added some pictures of a couple of cards and photo albums that look like Bird Houses in the gallery section below for you to have a look at.
