John Stanton works in timber, meticulously enhancing 'found' pieces in the neighbouring forest, into unique sculpture and decorative and practical bowls. The timber most often used is tallowood , blue gum or blackwood  finished to maximise colour and grain, producing eminently touchable objects of lasting beauty.

INTRODUCING

Louise Stanton's paintings range across a wide spectrum of subject and style,  medium and mood. Her own mood, and the mood of the subject dictates the medium used and the style and  technique..

Louise says: "For me, a successful painting is one which continues to interest me and to evoke feelings, long after it is completed, and if it does the same for the viewer, then I am well pleased."

Oil pastels are used more often to express emotions - tattered storm clouds, wild water, or a sense of space and serenity. The use of oils, and mixed media produces provocative images that challenge the viewer to consider the environment and one's own philosophy, while watercolour and gouache, or pen and wash portray small, immediate glimpses of beach and building, farm and forest.

Charcoal is Louise's preferred medium for sensitive life studies.

She paints on canvas in oils and acrylic, on a variety of papers in dry and oil pastel, in watercolour, gouache, charcoal, ink and linoprint, in a wide range of sizes and format, framed or unframed, or matted ready for framing.

Her pastels are generally traditional in style, evoking a sense of place. Landscapes are intimate, inviting the viewer to step into the world she experienced as she painted. This medium lends itself to techniques which capture the fragility and freshness of flower studies and bolder application of colour to evoke the essence of personality in portraiture.
