MUSIC
Each year students from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music come to Dorrigo to perform for the Dorrigo community. They also visit the schools, delighting pupils with their informal approach in describing their instruments and giving them an introduction to classical music.
In 2009 the Conservatorium Brass Quintet performed pieces from Handel, Stravinsky, Wagner, Bernstein and the Beatles. In previous years these ensembles have included woodwind, strings, piano and vocal. The students are accompanied by David Miller on piano.
We expect the 2010 visit to occur on Monday August 9th.
Performing to an audience is a great experience for the students and these concerts are always a pleasurable experience for Dorrigo music lovers.
The Arts Council of the Dorrigo was established in June 1982 to bring arts events to this regional community. Our Mission is to engage with the people of the Dorrigo Plateau and beyond to promote the importance of the arts and culture for improving the quality of life. It is our aim to develop an appreciation of the arts and to enrich and enhance this quality of life through education, presentation and collaboration with other arts organisations.
