The spectacular
drive along the Waterfall Way stretches over a distance of 280kms
reaching from the Pacific Highway west to Tamworth.
Climbing
up the sealed and maintained trunk road of the Great Dividing
Range and travelling through the Plateau and across the slopes
you experience the unique beauty of many waterfalls, scenic views,
World Heritage listed forests
and National Parks. The clean, cool air of the Plateau and
availability of pure spring-fed water makes Dorrigo a healthy,
reinvigorating destination.
Eighteen
million years ago the now extinct Ebor Volcano moulded the basalt
rich rolling hills and green pastures of our region. Dorrigo Plateau
rises from an altitude of 670m up to 1586m on its western boundary
of the Snowy Ranges. This offers you a very diverse journey on
which you can spend many days exploring and enjoying the Plateau’s
attractions.
While
in Dorrigo, attend an exhibition of graceful rural crafts and
fine arts, sample locally grown produce and bush tucker or simply
puzzle over the biggest collection in the southern hemisphare
of railway-rolling
stock from yesteryears.
