Dorrigo - Nymboida - Grafton - Coffs Harbour - Dorrigo
Take the Tyringham Road past the Cedar Grove and the old timber mill at Bostobrick. After 30 km you will join the Armidale-Grafton road and you should turn right here. After winding through rainforest after 14km on your right, divert 3km to "Withy Windle" Gallery and Garden on Wiriri Road. Stop in to meet John and Louise and have afternoon or morning tea with them. Louise is an artist and you can see her studio. Returning to the main road, you will drive through plantations of State Forests and grazing country until you reach the township of Nymboida about 45 km on. There's a lovely old Coaching Station here overlooking the Nymboida River. You can stop and stroll around - it's now a conference centre with motel rooms and it has a nice dining room and lots of old memorabilia from the stagecoach days. Just 3 km along the road is where Whitewater Rafters meet to spend a thrilling day on the rapids. 37km further on is the graceful city of Grafton, better known as the Jacaranda city. If you're in November there is no prettier city in the whole country. For the rest of the year the jacarandas line the wide avenues giving plentiful shade. It's full of history so visit the museum. The enormous River here in Grafton was a centre of shipping, logging, sugar, dairy and the river remains just as impressive. Return home via the Pacific Highway to Coffs Harbour having an afternoon stop at Mylestom, a pretty little beach town, great for a swim either in the river or the surf.
