Dorrigo - Dangar Falls - Cascade - Coramba -Coffs Harbour - Sawtell- Bellingen - Dorrigo

Make your first stop at Dangar Falls just 2 km north of Dorrigo - a 30 metre waterfall with easy access from your car with a viewing platform which to take your photo. Continue on through beautiful dairy farm and agricultural land interspersed with remnants of rainforest until you come to the village of Megan where there is a delightful pottery on the left where you can meet Jo Good at her wheel. She enjoys meeting passers-by and she'll happily let you watch while she works. Continue on to Cascade where once there were two working mills. When one closed it was brought and burnt for a scene in the seventies movie "Winds of Jarrah". Take a right after Cascade and follow the scenic drive through Cascade and Bindarri National parks to the village of Coramba with its plethora of craft and coffee shops. Stop and investigate. Then you'll drive to Coffs Harbour through banana plantations right up the suburban fringe. Call in at the Tourist Information Centre on the Pacific Highway before you explore Coffs - you may like a walk from the jetty along the breakwater to Muttonbird Island - perfect for whale watching during the migratory seasons (July-Sept and Dec-Feb). There are a lot of other tourist attractions. Sawtell is 10km south as you begin your return journey. It has a delightful main street, good surfing beaches and safe inlets for children to swim. Back to the highway and to beautiful Bellingen. Stop here for coffee and browse through the splendid craft shops - Yellow Shed, the Old Butter Factory and the Old Church and don't miss the restored heritage building of Hammond and Wheatley in the main street. You'll have a big day and be glad to return to Dorrigo for a glorious sunset.

Tour Tips

These drives are approximate times and are based on driving time only. Stops and picnics and walks and coffee or lunch breaks are all extra on the above suggested times. And remember, there's more to do - just ask at the Information Centre or Dorrigo National Park for tips further afield which are perhaps more remote.
