With over 61 Locomotives, 280 Carriages and Wagons,
19 Railmotors/Trailers, a Silver City Comet and hundreds
of other items, the Dorrigo Steam-Railway & Museum shares
with you the largest railway collection in the southern
hemisphere.
D.S.R & M. LTF is a 100% volunteer organisation. The
Museum is devoted to the authentic preservation of all manner
of items from the railways of N.S.W., as well as the GLENREAGH
to DORRIGO BRANCH railway line.
The 36 steam Locomotives range from a 27 ton, 4-wheel saddle
tank, to the 260 ton, 32-wheel BEYER GARRATT type (the largest
locomotives in the Southern Hemisphere); 25 Diesel and Electric
Locomotives are also preserved. Passenger rolling stock
includes sleeping carriages, 1st and 2nd Class sitting carriages,
prison van, travelling Post Offices, "dog boxes",
rail pay buses, the former Premier's car, the car allotted
for use by General Douglas Mc Arthur, bulk mail vans, horse
boxes and buffet cars. The Museum also supports the largest
collection of freight rolling stock preserved in the World.
A very large display is being established on 53 acres of
land owned by the Museum and will eventually all be placed
under cover.
The items that are visible from the street are only a small
part of the total collection.
